About the Kyu (段) System of Osada-ryu (長田流)
The Osada-ryu kinbaku school system is the first (read longest-established) system of its kind.
It has been developed for structured learning to facilitate authentic knowledge transfer of the Japanese tying arts.
As such it is being taught at accredited rope dojos around the world where licensed instructors are offering daily group classes, individual tuition, and specialized workshops.
The use of rope has been one of the 18 warrior skills (bugei juhappan, 武芸十八般) of the samurai. (Source: Fujita Seiko, 藤田西湖)
As such the Japanese tying arts have a long history of highly codified rope techniques now being brought to life via Osada-ryu.
The Osada-ryu school system is structured as a series of skill levels that build upon each other. In keeping with the Japanese martial arts background these levels are categorized as "kyu" (段), beginning with the ninth kyu and going all the way up to the first kyu, before starting with "black belt" levels (dan, 段).
To assure the highest possible degree of authenticity all licensed instructors are receiving special instructor training.
In keeping with this concept of harmonization the Kinbaku Academy website is preserving the Osada-ryu knowledge base through structured courses complemented by high-quality workshops.
