Terminology
nakinawa -- 泣き縄, crying (barking) rope
L-ji dome, L-字止め, figure-L stop aka half-hitch
marudome -- 丸止め or 丸留め, circle knot (consisting of two half-moon locks)
nawa o hodoku -- 縄を解く, to untie. (Also: hazusu / 外す.)
hannawa -- 半縄, half-length rope
tomoe musubi -- 巴結
santendome -- 三点止め, 3-point stop
wakizarashi -- 脇晒し, a tie that exposes the armpits (something embarrassing and shameful in Japan)
