Learn from Osada Steve as he unveils the secrets of Yukimura-ryu / 雪村流.
About this Workshop
This is an LGBTQA+, BDSM, BLM, pro-equality, pro-carbon neutrality Event.
Grandmaster Yukimura Haruki / 雪村春樹 has elevated the caressing style of kinbaku to an art form. Learn how to engage with your rope partner by focusing on their heart and soul.
The essence of Yukimura-ryu / 雪村流 is taking the partner on a sensuous journey of rope. The emphasis is establishing a deeply emotional connection through empathy, respect, and the transfer of ki / 気. The rope patterns are relatively simple and easy for beginners to understand. It is the “way” the rope is applied that is the focus of this workshop.
The “way” is creating a dialog that encourages tying “with” your partner. This requires A) the right mindset and approach, and B) applying all the subtle body-and-mind techniques and moves. The latter can be broken down into micro-units, practiced, and mastered. A good Yukimura-ryu session is a sensuous, erotic affair instilling intimacy and love. It can also be meditative and peaceful – providing a safe space to discover the feelings and the soul of your partner.
You may want to participate in this workshop with someone you are comfortable experiencing and sharing sensuous intimacy with; someone you are willing to expose your inner feelings to; someone you trust with your emotional self.
Minimum knowledge level: all levels
In this first of three Yukimura-ryu workshops, we will focus on the legendary kemono shibari / 獣縛り.
This iconic progression starts with tying the forearms at the kote / 小手 position, then laying the rope partner down, tying the ankles, securing the legs to an overhead point, then tying the arms to the ankle suspension line. (Please note that this technique can also be achieved in cases where no overhead point is available.) You now have a kind of bambi situation like having captured a little deer. The resulting vulnerability of the physical position will deepen the submissive headspace and is offering various play scenarios.
Part II of the progression is untying the overhead lines, then applying a 2TK chest harness in the Yukimura style (gote / 後手). Follow up by lifting one leg to the suspension point (kata-ashi kaikyaku, 片足開脚) basically spreading the legs and exposing your partner’s vulnerabilities. (Again, do not worry about the availability of an overhead point. You can achieve almost all techniques and play situations without.)
How and in what way you facilitate the spreading of the legs, what height and what angle(s) are giving the best results is a science and requires “sense” and a good eye for graceful body shapes.
