The Caressing Rope
Legendary kinbaku grandmaster Yukimura Haruki (雪村春樹) sensei's greatest achievement is having elevated the caressing rope (aibunawa, 愛撫縄) style to an art form.
This workshop is to perpetuate the legacy of my shisho (師匠) and to further disseminate knowledge about Yukimura-ryu (雪村流).
From 2001, I have been covering sensei's career by watching his work, and by attending and participating in his films and Live events. In 2006, I became sensei's direct disciple.
It is a great honor to pay homage to Yukimura sensei by offering this workshop to the worldwide Yukimura-ryu fan community.
The Content
This workshop was graced by the presence of a good number of licensed Yukimura-ryu instructors from the US, Europe, and Australia who kindly shared their experience about having studied with Yukimura sensei.
The practical part is a masterclass in kemono shibari (獣縛り), which has been one of sensei's favorites, and a demo of one-rope play (ipponnawa yuugi, 一本縄遊戯).
I am wishing you a great journey in discovering the secrets of Yukimura-ryu. Shall the power of aibunawa (愛撫縄) bring joy to you and your ukete-san (受け手さん, rope partner).
